We are delighted to announce that once again Crawley School Sport Partnership has made improvements in every area of the annual PESSYP survey, including:

  

  • 14% increase in participation in 3 hours of PE and school sport (43%)
  • 13% rise in regular competitive intra school participation (46%)
  • 3% enhancement in regular competitive inter school participation (14%)
  • 4 increase in pupils attending community clubs with links to the school (25%)
  • 2% rise in volunteering and leadership (16%)

These results justify the extensive efforts the School Sport Partnership has undertaken during this academic year to support and enhance PE and school sport in Crawley:

  • Development of high quality PE through School Sports Coordinator (SSCo)  curriculum support   for teachers, establishing local CPD courses and supporting the development of the West Sussex PE Conference. 
  • Creation of school sport opportunities through SSCo and School Sport Coach lead sports clubs, Active Families, Family Learning and Girls Active projects.Introduction of the Talented Athlete Academy (Yr1-9) PE gifted and talented scheme to complement the Talented Athlete Programme (Yr 10&11) and Playground to Podium format for disabled athletes (supported by Freedom Leisure).
  • Development of leadership and volunteering opportunities via the Young Ambassadors programme, play leader, one day and sports leader awards lead by SSCos.
  • Enhanced community partnership work with Crawley Borough Council, Freedom Leisure, BAM, Crawley youth workers, West Sussex Primary Care Trust, national governing bodies of sport and local sports clubs and associations.
  • Establishment of a website to champion local PE and sport achievement and opportunities.
